How to add a Pivot Grid to a standard fluid page

I currently have a customization where a master/detail fluid component (with left navigation) which opens dashboards with Pivot Grids. The Pivot Grids are configured from the "Manage Dashboard Pages".

However, using master/detail and dashboard is causing issues in a portal where there is a link to this component (works fine within HCM). So, I want to try avoiding using dashboard for the Pivot Grids. Is it possible to add a Pivot Grid Tile to a standard Fluid page? If yes, does anyone have documentation on how to accomplish that? Or point me to a similar delivered page in HCM that I could look at.
