Sendmail failed in the app engine after upgrade from PT8.53 to PT8.55

We are in the process of upgrading from PT8.53 to PT8.55 with peoplesoft. When we are testing one of the application engine process which sends email using sendmail function. The process is going to error and not generating any log file. When we enabled the trace and we identified that it stopped processing after Sendmail function hit.

Any suggestion on this to resolve?
