PeopleTools - Generate SAML SSO request from link on page

Hello, ... has anybody needed to create a SAML SSO request from a link on a page.  I have a new requirement that involves developing a solution for when a user clicks a link on a page, they generate SAML SSO request and get sent to a 3rd party vendor site in a new browser window.   I'm using PeopleTools 8.55.... and because this link will be placed on our student portal page, I assume I will need to be using some sort of content reference link, that calls a weblib.iscript, ... that processes some sort of HTML "post" of the
