Journal Line -- ACCOUNT_CODE field

We applied a patch so we could use Journal Upload with stat codes. However, with this patch a new field was added to Journal Line (ACCOUNT_CODE--Char  20) and the Journal Upload worksheet. Can someone tell me what the purpose of this field is? When I search PeopleBooks/customer connection I do not find anything helpful. Thanks
