11.2.0.4 Data Guard physical standby databases report their status wrong - why?

Dear community,

I have a very strange behavior of two of my databases, in particular, from the physical standby databases in a data guard environment.

As the setup is the same, I will describe it here for only one of the two databases.

The setup: A primary 11.2.0.4 database on one node in a data guard environment with a 11.2.0.4 physical standby on a second node.

The behavior:

The 11.2.0.4 physical standby database, name it PHSTDB, reports itself as "open primary" when questioned using SQL*Plus, but it is reported as physical standby in open read-only state when questioned by srvctl, crsctl, dgmgrl.
