Elastic Search Tools Version

I would like clarification. If I read some of the discussions correctly, the tools release upon which we install Elastic Search needs to be the same release (i.e. 8.56.xx) as the applications for which we will be creating indexes. Since we are on FSCM 9.2 Tools 8.55.15 and HCM 9.2 Tools 8.55.12 we would need to install Elastic Search on 8.55? If we plan to upgrade our HCM to the latest Image and move to 8.56 how will all of this work? Can we have different tools releases and still use the Elastic Search cluster?
