Pack template in RMS

We are using RMS version 13.2.4.

Need to understand the pack template functionality available in RMS. Can someone please explain the use of this functionality?

From Oracle documentation,

"Pack templates are intended for use primarily for fashion items, where color/size combinations may repeat for multiple styles or across seasons, even while the style changes. The template combined with the item parent (style) is used to create only complex packs. Users are not prevented from only entering a single color/size combination for this method of creating packs. This results in a single component item, however, and it is generally considered too much overhead for the creation of a single item pack.  Pack templates can be used to create packs in two ways – when creating packs through the complex
