PeopleSoft PSMAIL and SMTPUserName and SMTPUserPassword - Can it be done?

PeopleSoft - PSMAIL and a mail server that requires authentication - can this be done?  What I want is a simple email after a job completes.  So I switch the destination to Email.  Works fine with our old server which did not require authentication.  But our new server requires a User name and password.  I can set them in the config files but PSMAIL does not seem to pick them up.  I have checked and the id and password do work fine when sent with another email program.  When I look up PSMAIL, I don't see any option for User
