Download Student Photo in JPG format

Hello, I am writing an App Engine that downloads the student photos base on criteria. I have found a code that does this but it downloads the photo in gif format.

However, if I change the format into .JPG I can't see the files generated.

Is there any configuration in the App Server to accept jpg files ??? Or is it that the method does not support jpg files???
