Retirement Approval (not using disposal Worksheet)

Is it possible to setup approval workflow for asset management so that when a user retires an asset using the Retirement/Reinstatement component, it will trick an approval transaction? I'm on PeopleSoft 9.2 image 24.

I got the Approval framework working using the disposal worksheet, but now a user can get around that by simply heading over to the Retirement Component.
