What is the difference between Approved and Reserved allocation status in ALLOC_HEADER?

An allocation in RMS ALLOC_HEADER table can have the following statuses:

W = Worksheet, R = Reserved, A = Approved, C = Closed.

The Worksheet and the Closed status is self-explanatory.

But I don't understand the difference between the Approved and the Reserved status.

I'd like to know what triggers the allocation to switch to Approved or to Reserved status.

What are the related changes in other tables when this status change happens?
