Opening External URL link in PeopleSoft in new window of browser (Branding link)

Hello all,

We are using PeopleTools 8.52. We have requirement to provide link for an external URL on PeopleSoft home page. Similar to branding links in header of homepage.

We have done that customization to show link next to worklist on header of home page. When we are clicking that link, it is opening external site in PeopleSoft and replacing content of existing PeopleSoft component.

We have done this customization as mentioned in below link: Branding Header Links - PeopleSoft Wiki

So we want external link to open in new window of browser and existing PeopleSoft component should not replace.

We have tried html target="_blank" as follows, however it is not working :
