Delgation Expiration with Transactions in Process

Coming out of the holiday season, we've encountered this issue with delegated workflow- doesn't matter if it's Requisition, Purchase Order, Voucher, etc.

I wondered if there's something we might have missed...?

• User delegates their authority over a period of time.
• Another user initiates a workflow transaction that is routed to the delegate
• Delegate doesn't approve before their delegation expires
• No one- the delegate or what would have been the original approver can approve.
• We have to manually kick it back to the original approver or restart workflow.

How do folks handle this situation?

Is there a magic configuration option that resets the workflow back to the regular approver upon delegation expiration that we might have missed?
