Using page and field configurator on PMT_DISPATCH page

I am trying to use page and field configurator on the PMT_DISPATCH component. I am able to change labels, but am not able to set a default value for the PMT_SOURCE field. Can default values only be set for data entry? The PMT_SOURCE field is part of the Search criteria on the page. For a certain role, we only want users to be able to search on the Cash Management source. We are on 9.2.26 and Tools 8.56.05.
