ODAC & Oracle 12c client

Hi,

We are in the process of upgrading the Oracle 11g client and Oracle ODAC 11.2.0.3 on an application server to 12.2.1.0.

I was wondering if we can skip the ODAC 12c installation with a complete (a Custom installation) of the  12c client. In the Custom installation

I can see it provides OLE DB, Data Provider for .NET, Providers for ASP.NET, etc.

Is ODAC then still needed. I've asked the same question to the supplier of the application but they haven't provided a definitve answer.
