PeopleTools App Designer Client version at 8.56.08 and Database is at 8.56.15 - Compare Reports Cras

We usually don't re-install PeopleTools on our client machines because it is a pain to have the update "packaged" and pushed out to machines. We don't have authority to add software to our computers. We are going to have to now because the Compare process caused App Designer to crash when the client was at 8.56.08 and both of the Target and Source environments are at 8.56.15.
SR recommended that the Client and Database should always be at the same patch level. Does everyone else do this? We haven't had an issue in the past.
