Copying Project usign CA for PUM Maintenance

While comparing/Copying project using CA when applying change Package for PUM maintenance ,I see that Default options are checked/selected  as  "Keep Target Audit Flags " ,"Keep Target DDL" ,"Keep Target references " instead of "Set Target Audit Flags from Source ","Take DDL from Source ","Set references from Source " for intial pass. Don't we want everything to be replaced from source file (image source) in the Target Database  for intial pass. once they are overlayed ,we can go and review the change and reapply/undo the changes as needed .Don't we want everything to copied from source.

I am always overriding these flags till now ,but just want to hear how other experts are doing the same. am curious why oracle is putting these flags this way ?
