FSCM 9.2 28-31 plus PeopleTools upgrade 8.56.06 to 8.57.06

We are applying images 28-31 and upgrading Tools from 8.56.06 to 8.57.06.

First I downloaded the PeopleTools 8.57.06 and upgraded a copy of our database to 8.57.06.

Next we installed PUM 31 that is at 8.57.04 and created a package containing images 28-31.  This package was applied on a machine that had CA ver 8.57.04 and the home defined for the target client database (within CA) was set as 8.57.02 and the PUM image package applied fine to the target database.

My question is, if this was really OK to do since the database was really already at 8.57.06?

I am working through another non-prod upgrade and wondering if I should do the following instead?
