DELETE_USER_PROFILE CI performance

I am running the DELETE_USER_PROFILE component interface using OPRID's populated in a record.  There are at times hundreds of OPRID's that are being deleted.  I am experiencing very bad performance. In fact it eventually brings down the entire database.  Any ideas on how to fix the performance.
