PTF - Are You Recording Test Case / Writing it manually????

Hi PTF Users/Experts,

How many of you really record a PTF test case?

Do you ever need to write a Test case manually?

I work with Peoplesoft HCM. Our system includes customisations.  We are trying to make use of PTF in our testing. We manually script all our test cases. Are we missing anything  or it is the same for everybody? Can PTF work when the system is customized?  Please share your experience/thoughts. Appreciate your replies.
