Oracle Retail Bulk Data Integration - BDI doubts.

Could you please confirm me couple of things on BDI -

1. Is it only for integrations between Oracle Retail applications ? Or non Oracle Retail applications ( from Oracle and non-Oracle both ) can also be integrated with Oracle Retail applications using BDI ?

2. Is BDI only for outbound data from RMS or it also provides inbound integrations to RMS ?

We are using Oracle Retail Merchandising Cloud Application.
