How is static text field displaying large message?

In App Designer - have a page field – Static Text - that is customized, using message catalog.  Properties Label Text set to message catalog, Message set/number filled in and Explanation radio button selected.  This is a large, multi-line message, each line is over 60 characters. If I try to recreate this on new page, the message will not display properly – it pulls message into one single long line and you cannot adjust size, etc.  Only way I could recreate was to copy another similar field with same properties, change the message set/number to what I want, and it
