Upgrade OAM from 11.1.1.7 to 12.2.1.3.0 version

I am very new to OAM and I need your help and guidance.I have not been able to locate any document in Oracle KB related to my questions below.

I have to upgrade OAM. it is only used with E-biz suite

Currrent status is

WL - 10.3.6

OAM 11.1.17

OID

Oracle web gate

Running on Linux  4.1.12-124.32.3.el6uek.x86_64 

1. I would like to know if this upgrade would be a step wise upgrade or can it be upgraded to the latest and greatest version directly?

2. What issues if any are reported during the upgrade? Please direct me to any Doc's if any
