Is it possible to add a date field to the buyer reassignment page

Is it possible personalize the page or create a new item and add a date field so when a buyer is assigned a requisition that date can be captured for reporting purposes?  I tried to rename a date column and the column shows but you cannot update that column.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
