Contract Number & Contract Version fields on the PO lines ???

I can see Contract Number & Contract Version fields on the PO lines screens on the PO created via Buyer Work Center of Oracle Purchasing..!! Is this for associating Contract PO from Repository Contracts? If no, then what are these for.??!!
