ES: custom search definition returns only one row, even though query returns more rows. no security

Elastic Search: 6.1.2
PI : HCM 31
Created a custom search index with source as query ( simple data)
No security option selected at the definition
Query returns more than 1000 rows.
but on the search test page and search results it always shows one row.
If i change the query to find different results, still it shows one row but different data.
Did any one faced the same issue? any help will be appreciated. Oracle support says they will not support as it is custom search definition.
