Can the JDK in ../db/oracle-server/12.1.0.2/jdk be updated in the PeopleSoft PUM images?

Vulnerability scans are finding critical and high vulnerabilities in the latest PUM images for HR and ELM. The java version in this location is 1.6.0_75. If so, do I have to stay with 1.6 or can I go up to 1.8 to match the JDK in ../pt/? I know I can update the JDK in ../pt and the JRE in PS_HOME.
