BI Publisher report with a data type of clob

I'm extracting data to a BI Publisher report.  The report is written as an rtf format.  The output is excel, non-xlsx format.  I noticed the data in the column is there, but it's not formatted properly.  The data appears to be truncated.  Is there a way to get the data to display properly upon opening the excel spreadsheet?  I've tried wrapping the text via the word wrap cell properties.  This did not work.
