Use of Elastic Search in Customized Components

Dear Team,

Please advise if the Elastic Search technology can be used in both customized and out of the box components.

The examples always shown in CS 9.2 is of Class and Course Search.  Can it be used during other Student Self Service operations.

Can it also be utilized for searching for a particular uploaded files/documents which is stored in the database (not ftp). i.e. the search framework for documents searching which are stored as an attachments in the database.

Kindly advise and share your opinions.
