Rebooting or Power Cycle After applying Solaris 11.3+ Patches?
One of servers have been patched to 11.4 already, but our production has failed to patch to 11.4. Once before an analyst had suggested that we power the server all the way down after applying the patch, instead of merely rebooting the CDOM. I want to know if powering down from the ILOM console instead of just rebooting the OS would be better for us, since conceivably it would ensure that any bad network or service remnants in memory would be gone upon powering up. What is your opinion on this and is this a part of Best Practices?
