Installing Oracle Data Access Component when already have Oracle Client

edited July 2020 in Windows Oracle Data Access Components (MOSC) 2 commentsAnswered ✓

Hi,

I am trying to install Power BI desktop and when trying to make a connection to our Oracle 12c databases get a message that I need to install the ODAC provider.  I already have an Oracle client installed, as I use PeopleTools application designer and connect to our databases with SQL Developer.  The ODAC install prompts me to create a new tnsnames.ora, but I already have this set up and don't want to interfere with the current tools that use the Oracle client.

Can anyone advise if I'm on the right track here?  Is it possible to install ODAC when one already has the Oracle client locally?

Howdy, Stranger!
