pivot grid performance

Hoping this is the correct space for this question:

Our system is currently updated to Image 32, PT 8.57.06.  We built a query selecting data from PS_PROJ_RESOURCE and PS_CA_ACCTG_LN_PC.  Both of these tables contain vast quantities of data.  The query performs well.  We then built two pivot grids based on the query and the pivot grids time out after 2 minutes when greater than 2,000 rows are returned by the query.  We were hoping utilize PS Pivot Grids so that users wouldn't have to export the query to Excel and then run macros.  We perceived Pivot Grids as a significant end-user experience improvement opportunity.  Any recommendations for performance improvement would be greatly appreciated.
