What happened to new discussion/question/reply notifications in my inbox?

Hi,

I have followed several categories but do not receive anything in my new MOS inbox for new discussion/questions. I see if I navigate to the category page there are new threads but it is not optimal to have to navigate to each category I am following. The old MOS was best with new threads and updates to threads notification getting placed in the old MOS inbox. Now I have no idea when a question is asked or a reply is made.

How do I help members like I did in the previous version without knowing this information?
