Considering changing decimal positions on Bill unit price and Amount fields

I am wondering if there is anyone who has ever actually changed the number of decimals that can be used on the Billing Amount fields or has considered it. We are receiving a request from our users if this is possible or not. Besides the fact that some of these fields are used in many tables, which could make this a major and possibly complex modification, what other concerns should we take into account.

I have my reservations about this request without looking into this in depth, but am looking for feedback from companies who have some experience in this area. The reason we are asked to do this, is because the agreed price points are having more decimals than PeopleSoft can handle at this point
