Issue with Fluid Component Calling Fluid Component Using DoComponentModalPopUp

I'm relatively new to Fluid development and and hoping for some direction. I have developed a Fluid Component, and I want to call a second Fluid Component, and am using DoComponentModalPop to do this. The function is working to call the component, but I am trying to force it to go into the component search page so the user can enter search values. PeopleBooks says : "The originating component and the secondary component share data, including search keys, using a shared work record or the values in the fieldlist parameter.
