Unable to generate dunning letters

Hello colleagues,

We're running Oracle eBusiness Suite 12.1.3. I've set up Staged Dunning Plans and have been able to successfully generate delinquencies. When I query table iex_delinquencies_all for my test customer I can see newly added records, so I am confident the upstream process to generate the delinquencies is setup and working.

However I am unable to generate the letters. When I run the "Send Dunnings for Delinquent Cusomters" programme for my test customer it completes with Warning.

Sending process failed 
Error:Sending process failed: XML data generation failed.

and then

WARNING: Concurrent program ended in WARNING, as at least one dunning record is failed to process
