Performance degradation with ElasticSearch

We are in the process of implementing Elasticsearch in our production environment which is on a Windows 2016 box. This is a new server but we've had performance issues on this server since our latest PeopleTools upgrade. We are wondering whether or not implementing Elasticsearch in our production environment will further hinder performance. Our Elasticsearch is on a separate dedicated VM and we have Integration Broker already running in production. Need to know how others have handled implementing Elasticsearch in production and if performance degradation was experienced.
