Can I use expdp on a standby database by converting to snapshot standby

As part of our database backup strategy we take daily exports of the database using datapump (expdp) and use dataguard to a remote location in case of a disaster. We would like daily exports to be done on the remote standby database as well. However, the network is relatively slow (70 Mbps) between the primary and standby and the database is relatively large (more than 500GB and growing). Taking exports at the primary and sending to the standby site would take roughly a half a day.
