Creation of multiple Web and App Server Instance within a single environment

Dear All,

Can you please advise if it is feasible in long run of having a multiple Web Instance and/or App Server Instance created within a single environment.

Eg: Current the environment is used by Dept A, starting from their dedicated signin page to business roles, accesses, components and other functionalities with App and DB instance.

Now Dept B and Dept C also would like to use the environment, but require their own separate instance all together, which includes separate entry point and components/business functionalities.

Can this be possible of using one environment, but creating multiple web and/or app instance/profiles.
