Best Practice to Stop Database

Hello Guys,

We have an Oracle RAC running on four Bare Metal servers in two different sites(Oracle Database 12c Enterprise Edition Release 12.2.0.1.0). These sites must heave their Service Pack for Proliant upgraded. This upgrade procedure shutdown the hosts. We are planning to start by the standby site. My question is: Is there a best practice to stop the synchronization between the active and stanby sites? Or simply shutdown the standby host is enough?
