PUM Automated Updates (PAU)

We use Virtual Box for deploying PUMs. I tried to setup PUM Automated Updates  but entering my credentials for MOS fail. Was told I need to go through a proxy to connect. Not sure I understand why. What's the purpose of having to go through a proxy?

Thanks

    Hello @User_ENIE4,

The following document should tell you how to configure the proxy for PAU. This document applies to PUM instances that are running on private networks with a proxy host to connect to external network.

E-PUM: How to Configure PROXY for PUM Automated Updates? (Doc ID 2832839.1)

    Thanks

PUMs are deployed using bridge adapter and are assigned a corp network IP so they not on a private network.

Could you please provide the actual proxy error? Also what PeopleTools patch is this?

My initial question is why is a proxy required to utilize the new functionality of PUM Automated Updates (PAU) when deploying a PUM with Virtual Box? What's the purpose of the proxy?

Hi - Proxy is required when we do not give internet access to PUM server. Basically you are not exposing your server to internet. in that case you use proxy server to connect to internet which is a secured way .

    Question:

1.Does your virtual box has access to internet?

    2.Do you have proxy server?

Does your virtual box is unix or windows based? Also how did you confirm you have internet access from your virtual box? Also share the error when you enter the credentials?

Virtual Box is Windows based. I get the same error that's logged for Doc ID 2829815.1 before and after applying the fix associated.

    Test internet access:

    ping -c 1 google.com
    nslookup google.com
    traceroute www.google.com
