Connection to MS SQL Server using DG4ODBC

in Gateways, Oracle Lite, Oracle DB Mob. Server, TimesTen (MOSC) Question

Dedicated gateway to MSSQL Server costs thousand of dollars. DG4ODBC is free . So is it allowed, from licensing point of view, connect to MSSQL using DG4ODBC ? What benefits gives this paid gateway compared to free odbc gateway ?
