Standby DB sqlplus and rman not working

Hi,

I am trying to create a stdby db on a remote server. For some reason the sqlplus and rman doesn't work. I tried to recreate using the std practises as suggested with installing oracle and without installing a db on the remote server.

Given below are the cmds when i execute in the stdby environment. I checked for the permissions they are all ok.

bash-4.2$ rman

-bash-4.2$ sqlplus

-bash-4.2$

Thanks for your help.
