What is the difference between SENDNOTE and AWE notification event names?

On the Notification Administration page there is a table updated called PS_PTPN_CAT_REG. There is a field on the table called PTPN_EVENTNAME. For the eProcurement category DPV the event name value is AWE, for the Payables category FAP the value is SENDNOTE.

My team has configured the requisition AWE process to use DPV and both push notifications and email notifications are sent without any issues. We use FAP for the payment request AWE process and only push notifications are sent, no email notification.

I am seeking further clarification on what the difference between SENDNOTE and AWE is and whether it impacts the type of notifications that are sent?
