Options for XML message transforming in OUD/OUD Plugin?

I hope that this is the correct place to post about my question.

We are using OUD 12c on Redhat and use both the OUD proxy and OUD LDAP, and we use plugin extensively.

In the OUD Proxy, I am working on modifying one of our existing OUD plugins. This plugin implements one of the concepts that the Ateam had written about long time ago, to provide federation of attributes, using the X509 Attribute Sharing Protocol (XASP), but I am modifying the plugin to add a connection to a new non-XASP partner , where they provide access to attributes via a simple REST interface and via XML responses.
