Forgotten password feature with no emailing of new passwords in clear text

PT 8.57- HCM and FMS

We have forgotten password configured with a separate site. Upon following link, user enters their USERID and answers challenge question. They receive an email with a temporary password and must change it upon first logon.

New company business policy is NOT to email any passwords in clear text.

Has anyone come up with a way for users to reset their own passwords after verifying identity without emailing a password?
