Journal Entry and Approvals (using AWE) and not allowing Journal to be Posted if unapproved

We are using FSCM 9.2 and PeopleTools 8.57. I am trying to test getting AWE to work with Journals. I read the FSCM 9.2 General Ledger PeopleBook. Chapter 32 helped a lot. Much of the setup was done already for the process ID GLJournalApproval.

My issue. I am trying to prevent Journals from being posted if they have not been submitted. The PeopleBook talked about commenting out code (page 861) so that the user can't bypass AWE by using the JOURNAL_EDIT_REQ component.

However, nothing is mentioned about component JOURNAL_POST_MARK. This component has a search record JRNL_TO_POST_VW that only checks to make sure JRNL_PROCESS_REQST is not E, G, W (Denied, Pending, Waiting). It doesn't filter out N (None) for when a journal has never been submitted. When, I enter a journal the JRNL_PROCESS_REQST field defaults to N until the user clicks SUBMIT button. Then, it changes the field to 'G' (pending).
