Oracle 19c 19.21.0.0 Question switching from NOARCHIVELOG to ARCHIVELOG mode

I have FRA set up already and have been running backups with the db mounted each night, and that's been OK. I want to switch to ARCHIVELOG mode, and be able to run backups anytime, but I'm having trouble understanding the management of the archived redo log files. My db has 10 redo files, 50MB each. I am testing on a clone instance.

I performed a full backup in archivelog mode, but it looks just the same to me (files created, size and locations in the FRA) as a backup taken of the unmounted db I see no evidence of any archived log files.
