Is OUD is an upgrade for OID , or it is a different component ?

We are having OID version 11.1.1.9.0 , we want to upgrade it to OUD . is that even a right question to ask , or OUD and OID are totally different and the only process we could do is migrating from OID to OUD?

If both OID and OUD are different can we have both in same machine ?
