Peoplesoft/General ledger/version 9.2 How do I change a label on a chartstring - program code

I can change the description, but how can I change the actual label? an accountant entered a title for a Program_code in the chartfield as ABC but wants it to be XYZ. Does she have to inactivate and just make a new one?
